Performance of a third form in Aigen
To expose her pupils to performances was a pedagogical activity important for Maria. Already in the first form she was able to motivate them to show their parents and other relatives what they have learnt, poems, songs and the like. Later on there were public performances, even at the famous "Salzburg Christkindl Market" on the square in front of the cathedral.
Here is a live recording of a performace in the class room, done by a pupil's grandfather. The situation is typical for Maria's work: careful preparations provided the emotional basis for mutual trust between pupils and their parents, and now she moves to the background. One can hear her for one minute of introduction and then there is all about an obvious joy of the kids performing in front of their parents and grandparents. At the end Maria presents the actors, but this is superseded by general enthusiasm.
At the beginning of the recording Maria thanks the parents for trusting her such that they allow their kids to stay at school all night long, for a "reading night": the kids listen to stories until the fall asleep. Inbetween the stories they play "hide and seek" in the dark school house and encounter other adventures. Sleep comes long after midnight.
